For individuals with at least two years of formal higher education. We value the dedication it takes to pursue a formal education and help you pivot your expertise into a new, fulfilling career.
Scholarships are limited. Applicants should consider applying at least 45 days in advance of a class to ensure funding.
Important Information regarding ineligible school withdrawals in North Carolina.
If you use 529 money for an ineligible or non-qualified school in North Carolina, the earnings portion of that withdrawal is treated as a non-qualified distribution and subject to taxes plus penalties.
For a non-qualified 529 withdrawal, you are responsible for:
Note: Your original contributions (basis) are always returned tax and penalty-free; charges apply only to the earnings slice.
The 10% federal penalty may be waived in specific cases (death, disability, or military academy attendance), but simply choosing an ineligible school generally does not qualify for an exception.
For students who complete the Program, we cover 100% of the fees and taxes listed above, excluding the $50 NC Plan Fee.
Fill out the 529 Fees Recovery Form and submit it upon completion of the program or when you file your taxes, whichever occurs first.
A refund of the covered fees and taxes via check within 10 days of approval, mailed to the address on file.
